Mid 19th Century Shanxi Region Black Opera Chest Baskets & StorageThis stunning Chinese trunk originated in the north of China, specifically the Shanxi region, in the mid 19th century. It is made from a mixture of hardwoods including elm, which gives it its robustness whilst also making it light enough to be easily portable. Unfortunately, this trunk does not hold all of its original metalwork, and the hinges have had to be replaced. However, this does not take away from the rustic beauty that this chest holds.
